THE PARISH CHURCH OF ST. ANDREW, BURTON UPON STATHER

9:30am Sunday 28th September     In the Church. Lay led Harvest Festival Service. All produce goes to ‘The Forge’. This year, as it has been such a good harvest, they preferably want non-perishable food stuffs.

10:30am Wednesday 8th October     In the Church. Mid-week Communion Service followed by tea/coffee. Come along for a short service and a friendly chat with light refreshments. All are welcome.

METHODIST CHAPEL, BURTON UPON STATHER

7:00pm Thursday 16th October     Joint event by Burton in Bloom Committee and Burton History Society. ‘Medieval Village Life in Lincolnshire.’ Journey back in time with archaeologist Simon Tomson of television’s ‘Time Team’ Programme. Tickets £5:00 from Pat Hornsby, 721681.

10:30am Wednesday 19th November     Mid-week Communion Service followed by tea/coffee. Come along for a short service and a friendly chat with light refreshments. All are welcome.

7:00pm Saturday 22nd November     The Hospice Supporters Burton Group are holding a concert called ‘Singing for Pleasure’. A mixed choir concert in aid of Lindsey Lodge Hospice. Tickets are £5:00 each from 01724 720396.

COACH TRIP

Thursday 27th November     The Hospice Supporters Burton Group are running a coach trip to the St. Nicholas Christmas Market at York. For more details contact a member of the group.

7:00pm Saturday 29th November     The Church are organising a ‘Grand Quiz Night’. Teams of eight. Bring your own nibbles and drink. Tickets £4:00 each from Ian and Penny Pringle, 721274.

9:30pm Sunday 30th November     Parish Communion Patronal Festival. Celebrating our own St. Andrew. All are welcome.

11.00 am until 3:00pm Saturday 6th December     The Village Hall Christmas Fayre. The new School Choir will be singing at this event.

THE PARISH CHURCH OF ST ANDREW, BURTON UPON STATHER

7:00pm Wednesday 10th December     The Church are organising a Christmas Concert entitled, ‘The Christmas Hearth: Travels and Homecoming’, with The Mellstock Band. The Mellstock Band invite you to their Christmas fireside with a seasonal mix of jovial songs, stirring dance music and haunting carols. For this year’s Christmas performance they celebrate all things comfortable with hearty harmonies, soulful solos and exuberant instrumentalists, bringing to life the village band sound of fiddle, oboe, clarinet, concertina and serpent. The music is linked together by carefully selected readings from Thomas Hardy, Charles Dickens, John Clare, William Barnes, George Elliott and others, which tell the story of Christmas celebrations in nineteenth century England. There will be seasonal light refreshments, a raffle and Victorian dress is optional. Tickets are, Adults £5:00; 16 – 20 years, £3:50, available from Clive Hodgins on 721135.

9:30am Thursday 11th December     Burton Primary School will be holding their Annual Christmas Assembly.

6:15pm Sunday 14th December     St. Andrew’s Christmas Carol Service. All are welcome.

BURTON UPON STATHER PRIMARY SCHOOL

Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th December     Burton Primary School are going around the village singing Christmas Carols. For more details contact the school.

6:30pm Wednesday 17th December     In the Church-yard (inside church if inclement weather). The Parish Council are holding their Annual Carol Singing for the whole village. Come along with all the family to support this popular event. The new School Choir will be singing. Light refreshments available.

3:30pm Wednesday 24th December     The ever popular Christingle Service. This grows in size every year! Last Christmas there were well in excess of 200 people! Come along with all the family for the ‘Start of Christmas’.
